Wow, what a crazy past few weeks it’s been with the spread of COVID-19. It’s heartbreaking to see how this virus has affected so many, but also amazing to see all of the good that has come from this (thank you goodgoodgood for the uplifting and positive posts).
So many changes have happened since I last posted here…we moved into our new home, I finished school and started a new job, and then of course all this craziness going on now. With all the changes and moving parts, I’d been way too busy to post and have put so many things on the back burner.
White the quarantine brings a sense of uncertainty and anxiety, I’m also grateful for this time spent at home and have used it as a moment to reset, reflect and get back to the things I love. Below, I put together a list of just a few of the things that I’ve been getting back to that truly fill me up and make me happy. .
Garden Planning — I want to add a bunch of white begonias and tall grass to make our backyard feel soft and peaceful. We’ll also be adding some patio furniture, like this dining table and beyond cute seating. Stay tuned for details.
Morning workouts — with Melissa Wood. She’s my absolute favourite to follow on instagram and her workouts are so quick and easy to fit in (20-30 minutes). I use these Bala Bangles as my ankle weights — they’re super cute so you don’t have to worry about ugly workout equipment hanging around.
Cooking — This is a great time to try out new recipes. I made Gwyneth Paltrow’s Turkey Ragu the other night and it was amazing. I’ve also been slowly adding a new pieces to our kitchen which actually make setting the table and eating together way more fun.
Matching sets — this is the perfect loungewear for working from home, but also looking cute/somewhat put-together. I’m a big sucker for a good matching set, and this one is no exception.
Beauty Reset — I did an at-home spa session last night and finally got to use my Nécessaire Body Exfoliator in the Sandalwood scent. I did a whole routine — face mask, body brushing, nails, hair mask, etc. etc. It felt very much needed after all the stress and chaos going on.
Design Inspiration — for a new design project. I’m helping design a bedroom for my brother and his fiancé and love this look. I’ll definitely be drawing inspo from Athena Calderone’s new Live Beautiful. She has a great eye.
Bookclub — I just started this book from Reese Witherspoon’s bookclub and also began this book as recommended by Goop. They’ve both been sitting on my nightstand for the last two months, so it feels pretty good to catch up on a little reading time in the evenings before bed and in the morning on weekends.
Spring Cleaning — we cleaned out our second bedroom and organized all the closets and pantries in our place. I ordered a bunch of wide-mouth mason jars from Amazon for storing grains and nuts, and then picked out a few of these wire baskets from Nineteen Ten to hold pet treats, cleaning supplies and other miscalenous things in our kitchen that need a home.
**I also wanted to note: it’s a GREAT time to order items or gift cards to use later from your favourite local businesses. This is a huge time of uncertainty for the economy and anything we can do to help small businesses now is extremeley important. I’d be so heartbroken to see all of our favourite spots shut down because of this awful virus. I’m thinking of putting together a post of my favourite things from small businesses. Stay tuned!
